Vito Di Lena was born on 18 December 1944, in Altamura in Puglia, a region safe from war.
Between 1945 and 1960 he lived in Padua, the first city of adoption, which made him deeply love the Venetian places he frequented at a young age and which remained dear in his memory. He then moved to Rome, a city of art with a thousand faces, where he currently resides.

He attended middle schools of an industrial nature, the art institutes of Padua and Rome, subsequently the artistic high school and finally the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Rome “la Sapienza”, obtaining his degree in 1975. He carried out the ” professional activity as a designer and structural engineer until 2010.
From an early age he had a predisposition for artistic drawing, but above all for the use of colors, always cultivating a great passion for painting that was passed on to him by his father. At the same time as his profession, in fact, by attending the workshop of his father Antonio (a multifaceted painter), he was able to develop a refined technique, painting in oil and tempera.
Already an expert connoisseur of color and proportions, also thanks to his past professional activity, he applies the various painting techniques on canvas, board or cardboard.
Painter who loves to paint the beautiful and the true and who detaches himself from the paintings with great difficulty. Many of his paintings have been sold to people who are passionate about art.
His painting is a figurative inspired by the greats of the past, ranging from portraits, landscapes, still lifes and for pastime, he reconstructs images of cities that have now disappeared from antique prints or vintage photographs.
